A good friend and his girlfriend, although i'm not too worried about the girlfriend.

Most people are gone on WHV they'll be back in a year or 2.

Just one. Her name is Carla and she left for Sydney 10 days ago. She had to sell everything she owned just to afford the ticket. By everything I mean everything. Her Convertible car, collection of Kings of Leon LPs, her hair dye and even her birthday cake.

None, so far. My friends are all wasters on the dole with no intention of leaving/doing anything at all, and my girlfriend's friends are all still doing undergrads. I expect the number to start rising sharply in the next 18 months.

Personally I'll be leaving temporarily in September, and then on a more long-term basis the following May.

I don't know any that have had to, but I know a lot of recent grads who left immediately after finishing their degrees to work abroad for a year. Not really comparable to the 50's imo

I don't know anyone who has left due to hardship; inability to get an interesting job relevant to their third level education maybe, but that's hardly a new thing.

A few left for a year in Australia, but I reckon, bar one who is staying permanently, that theyll all be back within/straight after that year is up. Claim it was cuz they couldnt get work here, but they're not really working much there either-more lack of trying to be honest.
One mate working in Korea-was hopin he'd stay just one year but its looking like two.
One working in France-dont see her coming back anytime soon.

I know about ten people who have moved to Oz in the last few months. You'd swear the streets were paved with gold over there.
I've noticed that pure wasters who never really wanted to work hard here have moved there thinking it'll be a handy number.
