Have you encountered any tough decisions today?

I'm sitting here, starving and all I have is a packet of mints. But it says on the side of the packet that if I eat too many they can give you the runs... but how many is too many

I've been facing the decision of whether to do TY or not for quite a while now.

Personally, I feel ready to go on, and do fifth year, so I opted for that on my choice form. I've had serious doubts, however, because most of my friends have chosen TY. I'm really unsure about what to do because the people who are just finished TY now said it wasn't a great experience and they just seem really intimidating becuase some of them are almost two years older than me.

    Anyone have any input?

    lol gay johnny 5. :D

But no, do TY. You'll look back in 10 years and wish to god you could go back to school and just doss about with your classmates rather than work your bollox off till your 65.

Should I reply to this thread or not?

I can't think of any decisions I made today, so maybe I shouldn't.

Do TY. If you go straight into the year above you, you'll slip at least two rungs down on the social pecking order.

Of course, you could just doss around with your mates anyway, you don't need TY to do that.

He's just finished the JC, if he goes into 5th now its "alright lets start on the LC".

Do TY. You'll be older and have much more experience both socially and academically.

I can confirm the warning is true OP. I used to be addicted to the green Extra chewing gum. I'd go through a pakcet in about two hours, and regret it within 4.

I too had the serious issue of deliberating over time to get out of bed this morning, I got up at 8am, thought better of it & went back to nod until 11am - good decision!

TY is the best thing I've ever done. Met all my best mates during Transition Year, got involved in plenty of projects in town, ended up getting great work experience. Give yourself a break for a year, it'll help slow things down before heading into the Leaving Cert.

I'd be of the other opinion, I was a fairly bright young lad but did TY, got lazy and took to the drink along with almost every other classmate. It was a complete waste of a year. If I still had the work ethic I had before I did TY I would be in management in a Pharma company now or at least have my foot on the first rung of the ladder.

It ruined me for the leaving cert to be honest. I should've been aiming for the top but got complacent.
