Hi I am currently learning how to drive but I don;t have my full license yet. I have to do a study abroad programme in Scotland next september and was wondering if I could get driving lessons over there ....

I don't see why you couldnt have your test past by september here. Are you thinking of bringing your car over or what?

    Hi

You'd have to get yourself a provisional Uk licence in order to take lessons in scotland, as your learner permit is only Valid in the 26 counties of Ireland.

Test is very similar to here, but if you were going to be there long term, you would be better off taking your test there as there are differences in terms of standards.

You're allowed 15 driving errors and no serious errors. So you're allowed more mistakes than here, but they tend to mark you much harder than here as there are no grade 1's like there are here, that do not affect the result of the test.

    Best of luck!

    Matt

So I assume OP will need to do the UK theory test? Also, from what I hear the rules of accompanied driving are more enforced there. Something to bear in mind.

Yeah that's right, and they'll have no hesitation in seizing your car if you're caught driving alone on a provisional.
