You need to get to the one further out at the east of the airport, via the skytrain.

To save you time, here is how you get to the train station: After walking through the baggage claim area, you walk into the arrivals hall. The Skytrain is two floors up. There are escalators and elevators that can take you up there, scattered in between the shops that you see in the arrivals area. Once up at the Skytrain stop, do not forget you need a ticket and you need to have it stamped (most people do not bother and I have never seen them check but in theory, you must have a Skytrain ticket). If you fly Aer Lingus, you will arrive in terminal C. This is a Skytrain terminus. So you will need to take it all the way to the other terminus at the airport railway station. There, you have ticket desks, ticket machines and platforms all ahead and to the right.

Yeah I'm flying with Aer Lingus and I only have carry on baggage,so can I get the sky train from terminal C or do I need to get lift up two floors?

The Skytrain stop is right in terminal C. It's just on the second floor. Ground floor is arrivals, first floor is departures, second floor is Skytrain. So you will have to go up by lift or escalator.

There are likely to be different types of trains to Cologne. The most interesting ones would be RE and ICE. The RE is a suburban train similar to the DART. The ICE is an express intercity train. The former will be cheaper and slower, the latter dearer and faster.

If you choose an ICE, you can simply pay on board. And if you are lucky, the conductor never comes around and your ride is free :). With the RE, you must buy a ticket beforehand and make sure it is validated. Otherwise, you will be fined.

Yeah RE and ICE trains are both going .the RE is the one that suits my arrival time ,the re is direct and slightly cheaper and both trains take similar time ,going by the web site.
    Cheers for all the replies.
