So i get a call for the credit card company today.

They rang me on a private number i thought something was up but its the credit card company - they want to discuss my credit card but they needed to make sure i was the right person so they ask me some questions about my account numbers, pins and mothers maiden name ( surely the credit card company can be trusted)

So i checked out as the right person then the credit card company hung up the phone!

I told people in work and they told me that it was a common scam -

Surely someone claiming they are from the credit card company can be trusted!

Haha, I hope you're joking! Credit card companies and banks never ask for pin numbers over the phone.

I might be able to sort this out for you. I work in the credit card company. PM me your number, expiry date and security code and I'll put a note on your file to send you out a new card.

I recently got a call from "Bank of Ireland" recently regarding new products and service they wanted to offer me. However before I could hear about these exciting offers the representative needed my credit card number as a way of identifying who I was (odd considering they rang me).

Anyway I told her I couldn't remember the number and I was in bed having a nice kip when she rang I and wasn't getting up out of bed to check the number.

At this news she seemed really annoyed that she wouldn't be able to tell me about these exciting financial services. I had to end the call at that point and get back to the movie I was watching.

Ah well, opportunity lost on my part I guess.

if something like this happens - them wanting lots of strange info including your card number - always, always ring the company to verify who THEY are. they asked you for the very information they need to access accounts online, to try figure out passwords etc. dont blindly trust a phone call. the scammers around these days. its as bad as email

    Jesus that's awful.

Are you still going to be able to transfer that money to Prince Sahibad's account so that his lawyer can release the $10 billion dollars to a trust fund set up in your name now ?
