So... where's an 18 year old to go nowadays?

Any word on when Trinity Rooms is due to re-open? I'd heard a rumour that it had already re-opened but I don't think that's true.
Mollys is now 20's apparently.
Angel Lane do what they like. Some nights they let 18's in. Other nights they're 21's.

I just want to go out tonight. :(

Mollys wont refuse an 18 year old with proper i.d or student card so long as they are not scobes or pissed drink

Mollies is now 20+ only since the end of school (start of summer).

    Costelloes??

Have heard the Office is catering to the younger crowd now being refused in Mollies but don't know for sure if its open late...

Monday Night: Old Quater (Table Quiz + Cheap Booze) --> Costellos --> ??? --> :)

Is it? Last time I was there was in the middle of the refurbishments, only a couple of weeks ago, and there was no problem (two of us @ 19). I was there a week before that and same story. Is this just since the refurbishments downstairs?

OP, the wicked chicken is open again, assuming they're still 18's it's a grand place to start a night, and on to Costellos after.

i think they should raise the age of drinking to 25:D

God I hope the office doesnt become a teeny bopper bar! Such a great bar

    Is it?

Yes. Mollies now has a policy of 20+. Younger people were being turned away all last weekend, along with this week. Don't ask me why:rolleyes: With no Trinity rooms and Mollies off the cards theres surely several hundred 18/19 year olds looking for somewhere to drink. Crying out for some bar to start opening late and clean up for the summer!

As I said, maybe the Office is now open late, maybe its not. It had been catering for students by opening late on Thursday nights during the college year.

I know that Ken, but I was explaining it to JJ last week, I'm just so used to calling it O'Connells over Catherines Nephews calling it that for years :P

Edit: You know, To increase your marketing - you'll need advertising, And for advertising you'll need promo shots and posters ;) :P

Edit: Edit: Oh yeah! Love the look of the ad in todays post!

Which recession is that, the 1980's? Would be nice to find a shot for 50p

Mid-90s actually. And on Saturdays in summer they had a barbeque in the garden so you'd get a free burger if you were lucky.:)

Were there more clubs in the 90s than there are now? We had Featherys, Docs, Tropics/The Gallery, Cheers (if you were really stuck, I could get in there when I was 16 and looked 12), Termights, The Globe, The Market, The Pery, The Works, Bakers, Dolans, even the Kilmurry.

Also there were a couple of late might cafes like Java's and Puccinis so you could get something nice to eat after a club somewhere chilled out if you didn't fancy fast food.

It's a great spot, we always drop in there for a few when we are out. The staff (door men as well) are all very nice and that is why we keep going back.

Yeah, its only a few seconds from my usual :P

The Bitter End is closed down now, so even less places for you young 'uns to go. ;)

The only club I'd regularly go to would be costellos (habit from always being at Baker Place) but I've been in Mollys a couple times over the past few weeks. Its definitely not over 20's, as some in my group were 18 and 19.

Good riddance to Trinity Rooms, I won't even comment on that.

And on the subject of Cobblestone Joes, its a nice little place and I'm delighted they seem to be getting more and more into the live music scene. And aye, Mike is a legend.

I know, right? It was ridiculous!
I never chanced going in there, I'd just feel like a dirty old man, but every time I passed it, it looked like a playground.

Lots of nightclubs back then. Not to mind starting off in Quin's.

So Angel Lane have said they're 21's for the night. What organisers are 18's for the night?

I'm fairly outraged by the sudden lack of clubs for 18 year olds. It's rather idiotic to exclude the business of 18, 19, and 20 year olds during a recession. -.- I'm NOT a teeny bopper, I'm not scum, I don't drink too much, I use real valid ID to get in.
I'd just like to have a good night out with friends and not be rejected from somewhere with the exception of Tuesdays and Thursdays.
    Anywhere?

I'm the same, its so annoying! me and my friends are all 18 but would never cause any trouble or get too drunk, its all the young scum that are ruining it for the rest of us!:-( Unfair!

Bitter end was bought by the Still House, and is becomming Foxies Bar. Sunday is the last day of trade for the Still and Foxies is opening within the next few weeks.

Bitter end and still house same crowds, maybe the still was more pubby but ud have all the diamond earrings and mullets/tracksuit crowd in both

Bitter end is a big pub they will have to fill it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,534 ✭✭✭sioda

Have to disagree there the still was a sport crowd and over 20's bitter end was a hole full of children and ****e music

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 4,552 ✭✭✭bigpink

Im been in there twice with friends on weekend nights in in last 2 years and i thought it was rough, didnt feel in danger but all the lads were scobey and a raw vibe to the place

Not sure what its like to watch a match in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 871 ✭✭✭savagecabbages

It is a bit like that, but generally safe enough. Big regular crowd in there so very little hassle, inspite of the atmosphere. Foxies should be grand too provided they get through the first few months.

The bitter end was 10 times as bad and did have trouble. LOADS!
The only reason I'll miss it is that crowd will move on to some other pub and ruin it...
