I called and got 3 months of free Sky movies today ( not the full package). If you want to cancel it without it costing you money, you have to cancel in the 2nd month!

    Happy viewing!

Strange - I just rang Sky there and they said there were no current offers on any Sky Movies :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

So you get the 2 Movie Packages, i.e all the Sky Movie Channels?

This is so incredibly vague. I appreciate a bargain alert and I don't mean to sound ungrateful an all, but c'mon...

"I called and got 3 months of free Sky movies today" .....

How exactly do we broach the subject with the CSR over the phone?

Ring them and ask if they have any offers on Sky Movies for existing customers I guess. If they say no, just hang up.

    I did - they said no :(

I rang to add a Music pack to my channels and said I had seen online that an existing customer can get Sky movies free for 3 months, he activated Movies and told me to ring and cancel it a month before if I don't want to keep them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,206 ✭✭✭eskimocat

Sorry I was lead to believe that if you just called up that you could avail of it.
So here is how it worked for me:

I called the billing dept to find out why my bill had gone up, it turns out i had come to the end of a discount on the multi-room. I asked if they could do anything about reducing it again and the helpful guy told me that while he couldn't do anything about that in his dept, that he could offer me 3 months free sky movies (basic package) but to cancel them after 2 months otherwise i would be charged.

I then was passed on to the cancellations dept to try and bargin down on the multiroom, and the guy there was prepared to give a €5 off.
I cannot understand why some of ye have not been able to avail of the offer?
The helpful guy told me to call up every now and again to see what special offers they have.

So the story seems to be talk to the nice guy in the billing dept, or maybe put on a Donegal accent ;)

Just got them there. Rang up with the same story, seen online they were free, got them activated no problem.

    beware,
Sky rang us this time last year offering us 2 free weeks of Sky Movies and we could cancel it before the 2 weeks ended. happily enough, we said yes

Rang them back before the two weeks were up and they told us that there was no such offer and that we subscribed to sky movies. After about an hour of calls we spoke to the one of the supervisors who said she would look into it.

She rang us back a week later apologising and saying that she listened to a recording of the phone call and that we were in fact offered 2 free weeks of sky movies. She refunded the money we paid for Sky Movies.

Suppose, still got 3 weeks free

I asked about the free movies for 3 months, then threatened to cancel and Still no free sky movies. What number did ye folks ring?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,648 ✭✭✭gooch2k9

Just the customer service number from the website, then went to talk about the bill option I think.

I seem to be getting them all, even the HD versions... nice

If you get it, just don't forget to call to cancel it after 2 months, cause it takes 1 month to cancel! otherwise you will be charged!! You have been warned, lol and now that i have warned you, maybe someone could remind me in 2 months time to cancel mine :D

Can I ask what you asked for when you rang? I got sky installed under the same offer as you two months ago. I thought this movies offer would only be available for longer subscribed people but if you got it, I'm very interested in trying to get this now. Thx

My father got a letter offering him the sky movies package for 4.50 a month for 3 months. He decided to go for it so I rang for him as he is elderly. I was told that despite the letter offer him this deal that he could not actually have it for two reasons . Firstly because he already had a deal on his account with sky sports channels and secondly because he had some other packages like the childrens channels set to cancel. This seems like total horsesh@t to me . They sent a letter to him OFFERING him this deal. He did not ask them for it and he could not have it after all that ?? He is pretty annoyed and is moving to UPC over it

Can I ask is it possible to watch Movies on Demand on Sky Player because it says available to watch for free for sky Movies subscribers on the website, but it says I'm not upgraded even though I am. I haven't got multiroom though which I believe was needed before to watch sky player.

    thx.

You need to have both of the Movie Packages to avail of the Movies on Demand, and a Sky Multiroom subscription to watch Sky Movies live on your computer (although this is changing soon, where a Multiroom subscription isn't required).

    You are a legend!!!

Just rang, and I too now have Sky Movies free for three months!

The fella at Sky was very helpful, telling me to cancel on the 26th August so as not to get charged the hefty amount of €4 for another month of movies. He also gave me the direct number to the cancellation dept. Overall Very Very Helpful.........Is this all a dream?
