Hi. Yes chips are of courses gluten free. Its what else is cooked in the oil that causes the cross contamination of gluten into the oil. e.g the batter on the fish. A person who is on a gluten free diet will suffer quite badly if they consume even the smallest amonut of gluten.

I guess the fish are coated with cornflour or some other gluten-free flour, and they are fried seperately so they are not contaminated by the batter in the regular friers.

lads having worked in this industry I can say this represents a major investment for Jack Jordans and should be applauded. Trying to keep up with the myriad of products a chip shop is required to sell, under the extremely tight regulations in the face of lots of low quality competition is extremely tough and to add the complexity of providing gluten free food is no mean feat.
    Well done JJ's

I have no affiliation ( I don't even know where it is )

Producing gluten free fish and chips will require running a completely separate fryer. So only fish which has been made with GF batter will go into this oil. Also the chips that are served as part of the GF meal would need to go into this oil also.

Beshoff's on Westmoreland st in Dublin also serve GF fish and chips on a Saturday AFAIK but can only do this offer til about 6pm as it gets busy after that.

Thanks RobaMerc for your kind comments....it has been alot of hard work taking on a gluten free menu and wouldnt of been possible without the great support and guideance we received from the Coeliac Society of Ireland...lets hope it pays off...we have received alot of interest in it already and we havnt even started!.

While we have a gluten free menu running we can confirm that the fryers will be solely used for only gluten free products and every effort is been made to avoid any cross contamination of any kind...we have been working closely with the environmental health officer and the Coeliac Society to ensure all process are correct and in place for the launch.....

Looking forward to the day now...we have a great line of activities planned throughout the day so should be a good family day out.
