    hi
i cant put the aerial in my attic as i cannot cable from attic to living room down.
i cant put it across the wall as landlord does not allow me.

i was thinking of putting the aerial in the back garden on the grass.
run the cable from aerial to tv as my living room leads to garden.

will the aerial on grass pick up signal for DTT saroview?

What do you mean 'on the grass'?

Is there a pole, post, fence or shed you can use to mount it with a bit of height?

You're just going to throw it on the ground?!

You let us know if it works, I can get a good signal with an aerial sitting on a low wall in front of my house. I'm on a hill though.

i cant install a pole or anything. so thought of putting it down on the ground.
best i can do is put a pole into the garden grass and tie the aerial to it. but not sure if it will stand in the rain and wind

I am guessing by the language used it isnt the guys first language.

Most important question is what type of aerial is he thinking of using!

Find some creativity or ingenuity in placing the aerial. placing it inside a shed on a bench for example would work much better. You have massive flexibility in hanging an aerial if it's sheltered from the elements.

If you can't get a cable from the attic to the living room, how do you propose to bring the cable in from outside? It's quite easy to bring a cable from an attic to the outside too, and hide it behind (or in, if there's no other choice) a gutter and bring it inside or to ground level that way.

A yagi aerial in particular won't work well when lying on the ground. You'd want it over a foot above the ground (inside or outside) or above the floor of the attic.

Grid aerials (http://swans.ie/webstore/7-7-large/diamond-colour-grid-aerial.jpg) would not be as bad in that you can prop it up against a couple of blocks or a wall or a post and it will not suffer the same drop in performance with the bottom touching the ground like a yagi would.
