You might have to drive it sometime, and the Beetle is no fun. Get her to buy a Mini instead: it's different and cute on the outside, but there's a real drivers car underneath.

The only reason to buy a Beetle is if you're 6 foot 6 and wear a top hat while driving.

The Beetle's an appauling car. If she's learning, it'll be the worst she could choose too, the distance between the steering wheel and windscreen is immense, and then it's further to the front of the car which you can't see. She won't be able to manouvre it.

It's cramped inside, because they built it on a Golf chassis, to get the Beetle shape, they had to make compromises - first was that there's absolutely no rear leg room - a MINI has more rear space. Second is that the boot is strangled too, the boot opening is very narrow meaning it's tough trying to get large suitcases in.

Classic air cooled..or the more modern water cooled pseudo Beetle?

I would get her a beetle if she wants one. It's a real girls car. She won't be worried about cramped rear seats. If she learns in it she will know no difference to any other car.
