Facebook / Contacts linking??

    I know this may seem a bit stupid, but does anyone know how have your contacts pictures automatically update/sync with their Facebook accounts?

    Like I have a lot of my phone contacts linked with their Facebook accounts, but when they change their Profile pic on FB, it doesn't change their contact pic on my phone. I have Automatic Sync on, and the phone is HTC Wildfire-S (Vodafone)

    I had a similar problem and found in fixing the first problem I created a worse one which took me ages to work out a solution for. I'll outline my problems / solution below and hopefully one or the other will help.

    1 - Noticed old profile pic on a contact when they rang and set about looking for a solution. After a bit of mooching and based on advice found I did the following.

    A - Check the Friend Stream app and you may find that the last updates on the wall are (as in my case) days or even weeks old. This is evidence of a borked HTC facebook login. If you need to redo the facebook login then go to

    settings > accounts & sync > facebook for HTC sense > REMOVE ACCOUNT

    I also went into

    settings > applications > manage applications > All > facebook for HTC sense > and here I cleared data & cache

    Now just go back to the htc facebook

    settings > accounts & sync > Choose ADD ACCOUNT, select facebook for HTC sense put in your credentials and let it sync away.

    You should find that it will simply pop in the new info and hopefully stay stable from then on (you might have to manually link the odd account if the local name does not marry with the FB name but after that you should be diamond)

    UNLESS..... you lose your wife!!....

    2 - After I was done I noticed that the HTC sync had omitted 2 contacts (my FB said X friends and the friend stream on the phone said X minus 2 friends) including the wife.... (please jebus.... send me a sign..... any sign..... lol) and I was at a total loss as to fix that problem??....

    After about half a dozen times redoing the process above it occurred to me that both missing contacts were people I had helped reign in their FB accounts which had become swamped in spam, the only real option it could be was me selecting to 'block all 3rd party apps' on their individual FB profiles had somehow screwed Sense's way of gathering the info and profile pics.

    Sure enough, I went into my wife's FB account, 'undid' the block 3rd party platforms and after 1 final go at the first process above it brought in the info with only 1 contact now missing (the other definite 3rd party blocker).

    Hopefully you will find a solution in there somewhere. :)


    tl;dr - Facebook's 'block 3rd party apps' option breaks Facebook for HTC sense (no updates / profile pics)
