    Hey,

Would anyone have any recommendations for dog friendly camp sites? We want to bring our Irish Wolfhound on holidays with us and we are having some difficulty in finding a nice campsite somewhere outside of dublin thats by the water and that allows dogs!

    Would anyone have any recommendations?

    Thanks

Oh I've wondered about this so many times! The best we have found - welcoming the dogs wise - has been http://www.battlebridgecaravanandcamping.ie/ - however, dogs, of course need to be kept on the lead and there is not so much to do in the area. If you're going for a night or 2 that should be fine, but longer and your dog might get bored.

Somewhere I'm absolutely dying to check out is here http://www.actonsbeachsidecamping.com/ - I have been speaking to the owner via email and it appears that they welcome dogs of all sizes. I'm sure you've gotten the "When I said dogs welcome I didn't mean BIG dogs" too? Well I emailed him and asked and so long as the dogs are under effective control and cleaned up after he's happy. It seems to be very private and not crowded (as opposed to the above where it can get very crowded.)

So based on my own research, I'd say maybe try the above. I can't personally vouch for it (yet) but it seems to be the best I've found online anyway.

Going to follow this thread with interest.

We brought our GSD,Ghost, to this place in Castlegregory Co.Kerry
    http://www.anchorcaravanpark.com/

They didnt even ask what kind of dog he was when we booked and there was lots of other people around with their dogs.
They have private access to a huge beach so its easy to find somewhere to play offlead and the staff were lovely. They didnt charge anything extra for Ghost, but that was off season about a month ago

Wave Crest in Kerry is gorgeous!!! I take my 6 dogs there. Dogs have to be kept on leads but there's a little stone beach at the bottom of the campsite that the dogs can swim off. We normally pitch in right beside the beach so we can pop them in anytime.
