Flying to LAX

Guys, I'll be flying to the US for the first time next Friday (first time out of Europe too) so I have a few n00b questions to ask if I may.

    1) I'll be flying out from Shannon via Heathrow so I assume once I check my bags in in Shannon I wont see them again until LAX?

    2) Once I land in Heathrow do I have to go through to arrivals and then go back through security again or just stay in T1 and wait for the connecting flight?

    3) When I check in online for Aer Lingus does it matter if my printer is in black and white? I assume it doesnt.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the silly questions!:o

If you have both flights booked on the same ticket, yes.

If you have both flights booked on the same ticket, you shouldn't need to go through security again. This doesn't mean that you can buy any liquids in Dublin and expect to be able to bring them on the London -> Los Angeles flight though (and ditto on the way back - be careful buying any duty free in LAX because you might not be able to carry it through Heathrow to Shannon.)

As an aside, I was transferring from T1 to T3 in Heathrow last year (on a single ticket) and went through security in T1-Dublin, T1-Heathrow (yes, in T1-transit) and T3-Heathrow but I've no idea why. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
    3) When I check in online for Aer Lingus does it matter if my printer is in black and white? I assume it doesnt.

    B&W is fine.

Thanks for the quick response, Mark. What do you mean by 'same ticket' though?

If your ticket says DUB - LAX, it's the same ticket :) If you booked the two flights separately, you'll have two tickets.

Right, I'm now in a world of confusion! I dont have a ticket as such, afaik. I have the confirmation email from ebookers.com with my details of the flights but it doesnt say anything about a ticket or whether its two tickets. Sorry again for the silly questions!:o

If you made one booking with eBookers then you should be fine.
