Driving Test at rush hour

    Hi all,

I just got my test time and it's early in the morning at the very peak of rush hour - thankfully in the summer so there will be less school traffic, but it's still likely to be really busy.

Does anyone have any additional tips for sitting your test during heavy rush hour traffic? I do most of my driving at that time of day anyway, but are there any pitfalls I should watch out for?

    Thanks!

It is not a bad time. There is no school run chaos, just heavy traffic. The testers will know the route to take to avoid the worst of the traffic.
If you are at a junction waiting to turn, don't worry if you feel you are waiting too long. Remember you have to wait because the traffic is heavy. Wait for the good gap. It would be better to get a minor or even a serious mark for lack of progress, then to get a serious or disqualifing mark for right of way.
    Good Luck.

Did mine in Naas at lunch hour traffic in the pourings of rain and on reflection I think it helped me focus more and forget somewhat I was being tested, although of course its hard to entirely relax. Just do the pre test if you can and apply what you know. Easy for me to say I know as I passed but honestly when you come out of it (with whatever result) you will wonder what all the fuss was about.

The one thing I had to remember was distances, busy traffic means more cars obviosly and breaking times and safe distances from cars in front and how I stopped in relation to them at lights etc. was always a constant worry as we were stopping every few feet.
