RECRUITMENT AGENCIES

Just an observation but does anybody else feel that recruitment agencies have a lot to answer to in the current employment climate .

I am so angry with them at this stage it goes beyond a joke, this "we will keep your CV on file and contact you should anything else arise that may suit you" statement is proving the handiest way to fob people off in what appears to be more of a "dont hassel us any more" statement.
I applied for 3 similar jobs with the same recruitment agency but i had to search hard for them myself putting in different job descriptions to get the same results  when it should have been the recruitment agency contacting me . I even went so far as to get enough information off one job description with a different recruiter to find the company and apply to them direct and guess what I GOT A REPLY which is more than i got from the recruitment agency.
In my opinion i dont think some recruitment agency employees have the skills to read between the lines of a CV to decide weather an applicant is suitable enough for a position .
Another good one is when they ring you and tell you that you dont have the right "skill set" for a position even though you have worked in that industry for more than 8 years "ill tell you what mate let the employer decide weather or not i have the right skill set just get my CV accross".
This is one industry that needs a shake up to wake up , they are holding the strings for peoples futures.
