Losing weight too slowly or just right?

Sorry for starting another thread guys but this one is unrelated to my last.

Basically I'm on my diet about a month and have lost a little weight, about 3kgs, (now 88kgs 5'11) but I've noticed, and it's been said to me, that I'm looking a lot slimmer. My trousers are looser, t-shirts which were tight are looser, I've less of a belly, actually in fairness compared to what it was there's not much left, hips are a good bit slimmer, chest area seems to be tightening up too. I'm feeling a lot fitter as well, sharper, faster and have more stamina and am less tired in football training (4hrs p/w, 2hrs cardio on my own)

The last time I went on a diet (February) I lost a lot more weight rapidly but my stomach or chest didn't shrink and my clothes still fit me the same.

My diet now is probably 40% protein, 30% each for carbs and fats.

My question is am I losing weight the "correct way"? As in more evenly over a long time?
My calorie defecit can be a bit high at times, on training days it can be over 1200cals, non training days maybe 7-800cals. Is that too high?

Over a short time frame (and a month is short) the scales reading of weight loss isn't a big concern.
Fat loss is the goal, you could of dumped a lot of water the last time, which lead to the rapid loss but clothes were still fitting the same. Some of the current weight loss is defo water. The rate you are current losing won't be kept up, but don't worry 0.5kg of fat a week is plenty.

The thing that jumped out at me the most was the fact that you dieted last feb, only 4 months ago. If you fell back into bad habits that quick then you are looking at the wrong area at the minute

What do you mean Mellor? I fell back into bad habits after about 4 weeks because I got stressed with college work and I tend to eat a lot of crap when I'm stressed. As a follow on from college I didnt have time to go to the gym/train etc so I just couldn't sustain the diet. TBH it was easier not to follow the diet at that time.

Now, however, I'm free!! I have time in the evenings to train and at the weekends also. I'm very determined to keep this going, as I have done so before, but I was just looking for a few pointers to keep me going in the right direction.

Not having time for the gym is unrelated to what you eat. Either you choose to eat badly or you don't. I understand that strees played a part but at the end of the day only you can stick with a diet. It's only easier to not follow a diet if you don't want to follow it.

Don't get me wrong Mellor, the last "diet" I went on I gave up far too easily. As you said it's easier not to follow a diet and thats exactly what I did, I gave up. Now I'm taking it a lot more seriously and I was just looking to know if I'm going about it the correct way?

My main concern actually is if I'm taking on enough calories. For example, today for what I ate and what activities I did, FitDay is saying I have a calorie defecit of 1200cals, 1900 consumed 3100 burned off. I jus don't know if thats too much. Should I be eating more?

Oh and what I ate today was basically salmon, chicken, turkey, eggs, some fruit, and some cereal.

Well i can't comment in exact terms without knowing everything in detail. But in general, people tend to underestimate food calories and overestimate exercise calories. I've no idea if you are but if you feel you can manage wit current workouts and calories then keep it up and review in say 4 weeks

You probably put on muscle which weighs more than fat. So that would explain why you're slimmer and why the scales aren't going down hugely :D You're doing it properly IMO
