Hi, I'm upgrading from iphone 3 to 4 tomorrow but don't want to lose all the texts that I currently have. Is there anyway to back these up? Thanks for any help!

iTunes will back them up but afaik won't restore them to a different iPhone.

As long as you restore from backup you will have your texts.

Yeah, actually I think Aidan is right. Once you restore from the backup (rather than sync) the texts will be transferred to your new phone as well.

Thanks again! Got the iphone4 today and sure enough after syncing...got all my txts and pics! I think I sync'd from iphone3 as opposed to backing up? I didn't do anything special when I went into iTunes, just the normal sync (I think)! Sorry when it comes to iTunes I'm a bit of a technophobe:rolleyes: thanks:)

iTunes does the backup automatically as part of the syncing process.

    Hi,
I am trying to back up my trxt messages from my iPhone4 to my PC laptop. I have read your posts but cannot see an option whilst texting to save my texts. Have also looked at adjusting the settings option but the only items that are backed up apart from the usual stuff are a few voice memos. Would appreciate any advice as it is important that I have a back up copy of my texts. Thanks in advance.

Is there any way I can save my texts to my PC laptop where I can see them and print them?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

yeah they are saved as part of the backup, the backup will be usually in users/appdata/roaming/apple computer/mobile sync/backup
pick the most recent one and you need a SQL viewer to read it, its possible to do it in notepad but prepare for a lot of squinting lol

    Sorry Guil,
Am displaying my ignorance here, but could you tell me how to get to users/appdata/roaming/apple computer/mobile sync/backup? Also can I download an SQL viewer anywhere or how do I import the texts to notepad?
(you are dealing with an novice here).
    Thanks for your previous post.

the location might differ slightly depending on what versions of windows you are using, try clicking on my computer or computer and then C: then click users and then your name or whatever name is on the laptop and then the rest of the folders i named above

just google SQL viewer or reader and download a free one, i haven't used any so can't reccommend one
