unwanted birds in the attic ?

I have a birds nest in my attic, I think they are getting in under the facia and soffits (there is plenty of light coming through anyway) question is if i got new facia and soffit put up could that keep them out? or do i need a whole new roof. I live in a 2 story terriced house.

You could just put mesh over the gaps to stop the birds and allow ventilation to continue.
