    Hi there,

about this date in april i went down and signed on, gave all my documents to them and they told me to go to the health board to get money until my claim came through.

I went in there and they told me no. As i left my job. I told them i was on a 6 month contract, and i didn't go to work the final 2 weeks of the contract due to heath reasons. I have a letter stating that even though i didn't come to work the last 2 weeks of it, it was a natural end to what was only a single 6 month contract anyway so it was irrelevant.

3 times i've been back in saying i have nothing since my last paycheck on the 5th of may and they still said no as i left my job. I've been staying on and off with my dad, but have even ended up sleeping rough as 8 weeks is too long to be burdening people.

I went in 2 sign on for the 3rd time last week and she said the claim is with the social welfare something and i need to wait for an interview/visit... but still nothing.

There's a guy i know who came over from the UK and signed on the same day as me who already got he's letter and had the interview with the officer already, and i know an eastern european girl who signed on, had the interview the following week and received her dole after 3 weeks .. (she got it last week) ..

So foreign nationals are getting dole faster then me... 8 weeks so far and 6 of those without a place to live and im going hungry most of the time..

what can i do? this is only the 2nd time i've ever had to claim dole.

Did the Commuinty Welfare Officer give you the refusual in writing? If no, then go back to the CWO and ask for the refusual of the SWA payment in writing as you are entitled to have it in writing. You can have this resfusual reviewed by the Superindentant or you can make a HSE Appeal.

Also this may not be the case, but where you employed before the 6 month contract? The reason i ask this, is for example: if you where in Full Time employment and took a another offer of employment for the 6months, knowing you where only going to be employed for the six months, they can refuse you on the grounds, you where not genuiely seeking full-time employment because you would of left a job for another knowing it would only last six months.

If this is not the case, and you are genuiely seeking, capable and available and you have a claim in for JA then there should be no reason as to why you are been refused....................You many want to ring the National Organisation of the Unemployed if you have any other questions in realtion to the SWA payment, their number is: 0185690088
