Fleet St. Dublin 8 or Dublin 2?

The sign on one side of it says Dublin 8 and the sign on the other side says Dublin 2.
Not the Temple Bar Fleet St. but the little part for busses only across from the pub that is/ used to be The Fleet.
    How could it be D8?

That's got to be a mistake, pure and simple. Even the Fleet Street in Temple Bar is miles from D8. Well, not miles.

    D2

D2 without a doubt. Some places in Temple Bar have postal addresses as D8 (it was covered in some thread here recently). Thats just technical, for all intents and purposes if you're city centre, southside and within glimpsing distance of the river and O'Connell St. you should be in D2.

The 'border' between D2 and D8 is Parliament Street. Similarly, on the Northside, the border between D1 and D7 is Capel Street.

I used a picture of that building with the street name blurred out for the 'Dublin picture game' thread here hoping to throw people off the scent. Since they renovated the Irish Times building they put in a new sign including the 'mistake' of Dublin 8 which leads me to believe there might be something more to this.

After all, if your job was making these signs you'd hardly make such an obvious error. Maybe there's some kind of sorting office issue with the old ESB buildings similiar to the Phoenix Park situation?

Oooh I never knew that either. Why is it considered Dublin 8? Seems pointless to me...

It's geographically closer to the old d8 sorting office or something like that.

Parkgate St is also D8, and possibly/probably Infirmirary Road, Conyngham Rd too.

This is possibly the only street corner in Dublin with an even number on one side and an odd on the other.

The entire Phoenix Park is Dublin 8, not just the Aras.
