we headed out one morning at about 2 o clock till about 5 and that was when we saw the most activity. that doesnt suit most of the time though, peoples need sleep. we're usually out from 11-1 ish normally and see abit. havent been out much during the summer though

After 1am appears best in these parts - plus less nosey types around at that hour, including the missus;)

Amen to that. Unless there's a lot of pressure on me, I don't go out this time of year, nights too short/bright, dark too late. Mutter, grumble..... :D

I always see them out just as it goes dark... just when you have to turn the lamp on. Then again at around 1am... been like that for weeks

Longest day of the year today, so shortest night.
I would leave at 1 and finish at 3, starts to get bright about then and you may not even need the lamp if the weather is clear.

Yea the winter months are great :D lamping sometimes at 4 pm LOL there seems to be alot of activity during the day with foxes. Proably the vixen doubling her feeding due to cubs. There's a fox running the back fields but still haven't got him to come into the call, I'd say he sees me before I see him and he's gone:mad:

I find when it's dark is generally the best time to go lamping

They are out day and around me at the moment. I got out in the evenings if I can for an hour or two to check on the silage fields, They will often be on them just after they are cut and baled or if they have had slurry spread. I'd often come in then between 11 and 12 ish as its too dark to see well but not dark enough for the lamp to be effective. I'd go out after 12ish for an hour or two if I can. There plenty of them out then too!!!
