Hi I'm looking for some kind boards.ie antiques experts to give me a steer on how much this silver jug might be worth - pics at link below

    https://picasaweb.google.com/AnnieandManu/DropBox?authkey=Gv1sRgCMjElpiKouyGWg&feat=directlink

The jug has the letters ALD on it and three stamps - the first is an anchor, the second a lion and the third is too faded to make out

Also any ideas on where in Dublin I could take this for full valuation and possible sale?

    Thanks!

A gravy boat. Weirs in Grafton Street http://www.weirandsons.ie/ should be your first call.

Try the crockery shop in Glasnevin by the Botanic Gardens (http://www.thecrockeryshop.com). They buy and sell antiques and collectibles and will probably give you a better appraisal than someone in the center of town.

I dont think a brac a brac shop will know more about antique silver than Weir's.

Weir definitely know their stuff. But most dealers supplement their experience with the Internet and can usually identify a piece fairly accurately. And with that, the expected market value.

Moreover, in my experience, city center establishments have vastly higher rents to pay so can't afford to pay out as much - unless you are a known client.

Go to one city center and one outside the city center and see for yourself. Let us know!
