My friend bought a Jaguar last week and the alarm keeps going off. Does anyone know of an auto electrician in the Kildare area that might be able to help.

First thing to check with alarms going off are the door switches, if they don't operate the interior light as you'd expect they may well be the problem.

What model Jaguar and year ? If STYPE try the door locks after you have locked and armed the car with the remote. Check all doors have actually locked or just observe the inner chrome handle when locking to see if any of them do not move. If all OK try open the bonnet and boot with ignition on to see if bonnet open or boot open symbol appears on the dash.

As Rover James says it is probably a switch which on STYPE is part of the door lock...Try this anyway...

    Thanks Exador,
He got it sorted. Yes it is an Stype. After bringing it to a garage he brought it home and it went off again. He brought it back and I think they disconnected the battery and reconnected it, it appears this reset the alarm. Anyway it hasn't gone off since.
    Thanks again.
