Is it possible to have an inexpensive wedding reception in Galway?

I am cutting down on everything. There will be no flowers, less guests. the cheapest band possible and if they're not cheap enough no band at all.
However finding an inexpensive wedding venue in Galway seems to be impossible.
I wouldn't mind having the wedding in a school hall or a boat club but the people I need to invite (if I can) are older relatives. They may not be comfortable enough there.
Is there anywhere that offers a reasonable price with reasonable comfort? We will obviously be buying a lot of drinks so there must be some organisation that is willing to be realistic in Galway. ....Or is there?

I think you will have a big problem with finding a cheap venue.
Every venue on a good level costs a lot.
Here are some venues for hire in UK. I think there are some venues from all islands.
Try here. Or! The cheapest way will be make the wedding at home. My friend did it like that and it was very nice.

Claregalway hotel also reasonable. I think the key is to look outside the city for venues, your paying for the city centre location in many cases...

    Hi there,

Have a look at Brigit's Gardens Moycullen as a venue- beautiful surroundings and lovely weddings!

    Alternatively Galway Rowing Club?

    Best of luck!

boat house in Galway (ie the rowing Club), with the lights dimmed, bit of tinsel, and the outside sitting area if the weather's good - fab. but then, i'm a man.
