Google Chrome keeps downloading wmv files and others rather than opening them!

Can you give us examples of sites? Do you mean that the content should be streamed instead of downloaded as a .wmv?

I'd imagine that's not a flaw of Chrome, it probably can't handle .wmv files so it downloads them so you can watch the file on Windows Media Player.

It could also be a setting in Chromes options, why not try using firefox to view that page? See does it make any difference.

If there is a setting for MINE TYPE make sure its set to AUTO so the browser handles each link differently!
