Would Skangers look down on Travellers or vice versa?

    Actually prefer the latter myself, there's far less of them and they generally keep to themselves, feuding included.

    You're far less likely to be accosted or verbally abused by them as well.

    Just intrigues me as to what sort of relationship they would have towards each other?

    Also when people a calling each other Knackers in Ireland, do you think it's more of a common or garden derogatory phrase alluding to low social class or education or do they mean membership of the Travelling Community?

    Hopefully this thread won't be pulled !

    I believe "knackers" has gone a long way from when they were primarily horse slaughterers, the same is true for "tinkers" who are no longer associated with repairing pots and pans etc.

    I think skangers are more likely to look down on others, Travelling Community included, as that seems to be their ideal approach to society in a bid to make them feel superior. I would reckon a good 99% of the Travelling Community I've met have actually been some of the nicest people in existence and would happily give the shirt off their back if they thought they could help you. And please no snide comments on this, that is my genuine experience. The other 1% is a different matter and not to be confused.
