    I thinking of packing all this running malarkey in.

    I cant shake this injury off, (Plantar Fasciitis). Last year it happened on my left foot, eventually got that fixed up and now its on the right foot. Ive been cycling alot lately to keep my fitness up and im enjoying it. Not as much as the running but still.

    Im supposed to start training for Dublin on Monday and it dosent look good at all. :(

    Don't think this counts as medical advice but I don't think that cycling is a good thing to be doing while you're recovering from plantar fasciitis. I had discussed this previously with a mate who had this and I think the cycling motion tends to stretch the sole of the foot?

    Obviously if you've gotten this on both feet then there's something not right with the mechanics of your running - I've no real advice on how to get this fixed but marathon training is pretty relentless. Nothing as frustrating as being injured - maybe concentrate on the shorter stuff for a while? Or follow Tunney's dark side suggestion?

    To elaborate, back in 2002-2003 I couldn't run 20-30km a week without getting some sort of injury. I just wasn't athletically old enough to train properly. I got into triathlon after much frustration with running injuries. By spreading the load across three sports, and sets of muscles, tendons, etc, the frequency of injuries dropped and I slowly built up and matured athletically. After a good while of this I got to a stage where I could see no issue running 160km a week.

    Multisport allows you toughen up and progress from newborn athlete, through the toddler years, get through your athletic teething and then be ready to progress from play school to big kids school. Be that big kids school a single sex or mixed school (that is pure running or triathlon).

    Multi sport is definitely kinder to the body than running alone. That said, this year is the first year I've had mild PF in my feet. So it may well be that cycling aggravates it, I don't know. There really is no point in doing something that makes your body break down. I spent a fortune on a physio while marathon training, my body just didnt like the mileage and that was one of the main reasons I moved to doing tri. You don't have to pack it all in, change is as good as a rest.

    No point feeling sorry for yourself,have been through numerous injuries and often wanted to give up but you know you won't.
    If you where gona pack it in you wouldn't bother posting on here.
