    Hey guys,

So I was seeing a girl up to a few weeks ago and loaned her the sum of E120 (I know thats not a huge amount but I'm a student, I've debts to pay and its the principle) for medical expenses, fast forward a few weeks and shes split to the US (Shes a citizen) and is refusing to reimburse me.

I have saved Skype conversations documenting the loan but no other proof, is there any course of action I can take? I don't mind if the cost of action cost up to E120 once she is forced to repay me

Write it off to experience, there's nothing much you can do. It's a small price to pay for such a valuable lesson.

Thats all I'm hearing off anyone, and whilst its sound advice thats not what I'm asking, I want to know what I can legally do about it

Even if you could pursue the matter legally, the cost involved in pursuing this matter would be far more than the €120 you loaned her.

You would have to go to the district court and prove the debt. Then you get a court order which you can try and have enforced in the States. I don't believe that BRussels I or Lugano conventions apply for the USA and to be honest, I have no idea how you would go about enforcing an irish judgement in the USA.

All in all, far more hassle than it's worth.
