I used to be able to get BBC HD on my satellite, but now I cannot.

I submitted a query here and got some replies, but my problem is still not resolved.

    I would appreciate more help.

To facilitate answers I enclose below some details.

I am sorry they are long and my technical knowledge is limited.

    Thanks and regards,

    NoelFitz.

I use a Digital TV satellite receiver - Turbosat MVision HD200 Combo. This HD satellite and Freeview combo has (I think) DVB-S2 capability.

    Please see: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/digital-tv-receivers/mvision-hd200-combo-426740/review#ixzz1PezMz6dG

My TV is a Panasonic (TX-L32S10L), which is Full HD (1929x1080p).

I was directed to a page "Changes to BBC HD channel on satellite 6th June".

Here I read, that the satellite transponder is changed., modulation scheme was DVB-S, now DVB-S2 for BBC HD.

I also see if I watch TV Freeview I will not be affected. This seems not so.

If I have Freesat I may need to put my HD box on standby for 30 seconds and then restart. I think my Combo is also Freesat, so how do I put it into standby and restart. Pressing STB button makes no obvious change.

Next I read if the channels are still unavailable carry out "a freesat channel retune " or "a first time installation". I see "menu -> factory reset-> all data will be erased. Do you want to reset?" I am scared to press YES.

    Finally I see options:
    Satellite: Astra 2D tp.50
    Frequency: 10,847MHz (vertical polarity)
    Modulation: DVB-S2, QPSK
    Symbol Rate: 23.0
    FEC: 8/9

The nearest I can get (using menu -> Satellite Search) is:
    Satellite: Astra2A/2D (28.2E)
    DiSEqC Port: off
    TP frequency: 10847v
    LNB Type: universal
    Search Type: Free Only
    Power: Auto.

I still cannot get BBC HD back.

I am tempted to try the Factory Reset option and start again downloading channels.

    I really would love advice

Hello, can you please assist me in receiving BBC HD, as it has been cut off recently. I have a "Ross HD Digital Satellite Receiver", the above solution needs an "Mvision box" so it cannot help me.

If anyone can help me receive BBC HD I will be very grateful. Thanks.

Seems to be the same prinicpal as most of the other fta boxes.
    Menu - > User Installation - > Channel Search - > Satelite Channel Search
Add the following transponder details and do a fta search.

All things going well, you should pick BBC1/HD up.

Previously I submitted a number of queries, which were answered concisely and expertly. I am shocked at my ignorance, especially not knowing what Combo meant. If it means terrestrial and satellite, why was I advised to get an aerial to see Irish channels?

In fact I cannot look at satellite channels without first turning on my TV with Irish channels, presumably my terrestrial TV, and then going to HDMI3(SAT). If Combo means both terrestrial and satellite I would have thought one dish without an aerial was adequate.

Thanks for help in resolving my previous problems. May I go through a number of replies.

Q1. As advised to get BBC HD etc. I used the recommended options. The only extra thing I did was to use search option "All".
Will this include all FTA channels, as previously I could get EWTN, UCB and a fashion channel? Are there other ways to get more FTA channels?
A1 I presume the answer is that certain channels are no longer available as FTA, and EWTN etc have just vanished into cyber space, and if I really want them I will have to use my computer.

Q2 and Q3 have clear answers.

    Q4 Is still a problem.
I am unable to get international radio stations. Perhaps the alternative is to use my computer. Anyone like to suggest suitable sites? I have http://www.radiotower.com/, but have not studied it.

you need an aerial for the combo box to pick up a signal (DTT, Digital Terriestrial Television) the Irish Digital Service
(not irish Analogue tv) just plug in the aerial into the combo box .
you dont need a complete new one if you already have one!

The Dish (satellite signal receiving Part) is as the name suggests only for Satellite channels.

but thats why you bought a combo box.

(rte is not on that without paying for it ) (technically it will be available , but not now)

What radio stations are you looking for?
here is a list . of what is on the satellite (you will have to work it out for yourself which are radio and which are tv.)

the site you mention has 6000 stations, how many do you want?

    this one claims 45000.:) http://www.shoutcast.com/
