Blocking mobile internet on Iphone?

Hey, I just got an iphone and I don't want it to waste my money connecting to the 3g/mobile internet when I don't want it to so is there a way I can block it from connecting to the mobile internet and only use the wifi internet on it??

ya could change the apn and ya wont get the pop to enable mobile data, its under the same menu and says internet apn, just add a . or any thing and save it
