I drove the new Citroën DS4 extensively in Millbrook the other day and I have to say it's most impressive.

What's the consensus from the Boardsie motoring community???

It'll be launched here in July.

It makes me feel funny in my pants. Citroen are doing no wrong at the moment!

Apart from getting people to buy them that is

That's only because they're not heavily discounting their brand which will stand to them in time. I'd imagine (Without any stats to back it up at all), that it's probably only here they're not top of the game. Other countries they probably do well in.

Friend just sold his 2010 C5 Estate. Fine car, I was really impressed with it.

Looks great ctk. Do you work for garlic distributors?
If so do you have any idea on pricing and engines for ireland?

Working for french car makers is so much better than japanese. Ye get to hoon around racetracks, toyota employees get mammy dinners at mount Juliet and yaris umbrellas

If I had the money for it, I would buy it, looks stunning.

Citroen are playing a lot of good moves recently.

Gallic are no longer importers - the operation is now run by Automobiles Citroën (Citroën Ireland).

While you were putting up your umbrella the Citroën folk were "foot to the floor"

    Love that sig, colm!

Just reading the link. Unsurprisingly, the car will come with two different versions of the PSA diesel engine but the interesting bit is the only petrol engine will be the turbocharged BMW one!

Sets a bit of a precedent, doesn't it? As in everybody is buying diesel only in a small hatch these days. So we only need petrol for the high-performance models, the hot hatches. This is the only sub-segment where diesel lacks appeal

In fairness to Citroen there is no need for them to sell anything else other than the diesels here - that's the way the market has gone. No doubt the THP 200 is a special order too.

In other markets there is a NA 1.6 with 120 bhp and LPT 1.6 with 150 bhp.

Ah. I saw the ds4.citroen.com in the url, so I thought it would be a worldwide standard offering of engines. Missed the /ie bit at the end :o

Oh yeah - and when you get bored with the DS4 you'll have the DS5 to look forward to.......(early next year, I'm told).

That's assuming your not yet bored with the DS3................

And that's without mentioning the recent New C4. When it comes to design it would seem that Citroën seem to have got it right. As most models sold here will be the incredibly reliable 1.6 HDi it would appear that we will all see a few more Citroëns on our roads.

Would it not make sense to just make this the new C4?

The new actual C4 looks as dull as dishwater anyway.

when i was in france lately there were alot of ds3's and i stared at every one of them envious of their owners. really lovely car in and out

    \dons hat

Fair fceks to citroen, they are the only European maker that seem to be making an effort at the moment. I would love a DS5.

Had a C4 for couple weeks when it came out. Very impressed with the car as a whole. Still can't quite get perfectly comfortable in the seats, but I think that's more me than the car.

Saw the DS4 at the fleet launch 100% taken with the looks. Didn't help it was a funny greeny/brown colour.

Should go well with a hot engine in it. I'm still waiting on this to make it to the demo fleet and be dropped down to me:

Saw some yesterday DS4s yesterdays up around Toughers - think PG Duffy dealer must have moved out there. I'll be taking a test drive I reckon. Not something I would normally consider but it ticks a few boxes...

You gotta love Citroen for what they try down the years. Their interiors seem to be coming up to another level, but then they needed to. The standard of the stuff they were making 10 years ago was woeful, apart from the superior diesel engines and ride.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭RandomAccess

Maybe its just the pictures but apart from being flat bottomed, those steering wheels look very oval shaped.

Nice to see they are working strongly on design anyway, hopefully they will also manage to make a name for themselves in quality.
