    Hi,
I purchased a generic camera connection kit with USB and card adapter, the problem is when I connect it states USB device not supported and says go to Ifile software Var/mnt file. What do I do here? Just want to download photos off pad to USB to print?

Hi section, no link unfortunately. I bought on eBay which is identical to the genuine apple kit?. Came from China, surprise surprise !

The Apple supplied unit allows connection of a camera to the iPad to allow photos to be downloaded FROM the camera TO the iPad. Unless the iPad is Jailbroken you can't sent stuff the other way afaik. Does the unit you bought claim to work the other way ?

I've seen several eBay devices fail on iPods, iPads and iPhones usually because they are for older devices. Recently a friend bought a video out cable/adaptor for his iPhone 4, it wouldn't work but did on an iPhone 3/3GS !!

Edit: Is this the unit you bought? http://cgi.ebay.com/iPad-2-SD-Card-Reader-USB-Camera-Connection-Kit-Adapter-/260803348444?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item3cb91747dc#ht_2798wt_902

Hi ken, no it never stated it would work that way, I figured with a USB port it would, otherwise what's the point of having the port ?

Zener is right. If you want to print photos on your iPad you'll have to do it by other means.
You can print directly using "AirPrint".
You can email your pc the pictures you want.
You can transfer pictures via Bluetooth with apps.
Or you can jailbreak and access the pictures that way (unless it's an ipad2)

I have an eBay bought one for all camera connection kit and it works flawlessly.
I'd say your camera connection kit is working.

The point of the USB port is to load up photos TO the iPad to see them on the lovely display and show them to friends and family.
You can also transport Midi across the USB port for the music apps.

Or you can simply Sync the iPad to your computer ? . . on the Mac the photos are downloaded and put into iPhoto. Not sure about Windoze though . . .

@ Section1: I'm afraid it's gone now but he did buy it on eBay so I'm sure they are still there. If memory serves though, with iOS4 and up it didn't work. Not sure why exactly.
