Sony Xperia 8 charging and coverage problem?

I have an X8 but in the last few weeks I have begun to notice that once I plug the charger in to charge the phone, the coverage goes completely. Once I unplug the charger the signal goes back up to two or three bars easily. It's really annoying as no messages or calls can come through when it's charging. Has this happened…

Sounds like it's sick! If it's within 28 days of purchase and the phone is faulty it must be exchanged!

Problem is, I bought it in February so warranty is out. Why are warranties so bloomin' short? It's ridiculous!

You've 12 months for a repair if it's a software fault!

Well that changes it! How do I go about it, since I bought it online? Can I bring it to a Meteor Store or do I have to call up or how?
