    Hi everyone,

I have a HTC Legend on meteor pre pay,was bill pay when I purchased it but contract has ended. I'm moving to o2 but my phone is saying its network locked. Rang meteor for unlock code, they say they don't have one as all HTC phones are factory unlocked!

    Anyone any info on this?
    Thanks in advance

I can't see why you're having this problem. I have the Legend from Meteor as well & I've since moved to the Middle East & can use my sim here with no problem in the Legend. Also when I go home I generally use my wife's Vodafone sim in it as well with no problems. Have you just tried putting the O2 sim in & seeing if it'll work?

    Hi Squire23,
Thanks for the reply. Have tried both an o2 sim and a vodafone sim in the phone. It just says sim restricted. Very unusual. Meteor and the store where I purchased it don't seem to understand it. Puzzled

It's wierd alright. If you have nothing important on it I'd suggest doing a hard reset. Here how to....

here's a YT video as well - it's in French but very easy to understand

Just noticed it's not a Desire and I don't think this is applicable but I'll leave the post in case it's any help.

I had a similar problem coming from Korea with my Desire. Wouldn't take a vodafone SIM. I confess I know diddly squat about how locking works. I don't even know if it's a phone or SIM based mechanism.

    However I used this:
    SIM-Unlock Utility v0.2a
    and problem solved.

It requires burning a CD and booting it with the phone attached to the computer which requires a fair amount of trust in the utility but most people on XDA reported success and so can I.

Oh and I'm not sure that a hard reset will unlock the phone.
