Without Googling. I'd assume in no particular order

    1) American pitbull terrier
    2) Staffordshire bull terrier
    3) English bull terrier
    4) Rottweiler
    5) German Shepherd
    6) Akita
    7) Tosa Inu
    8) Presa Canario
    9) American Bulldog
    10) Cane Corso

And I'm willing to bet there are some of my choices that aren't even on that list... but I'm assuming Ireland has no outright banned breeds, am I right?

    Also in no particular order!

    Doberman
Some line about pitbull / pitbull mixes
    Staffidshore bull terrier
    English bull terrier
    Rottie
    GSD
    Akita
    R. Ridgeback
    Bull mastiff
    J. Toso
Knew first 9 won't lie added in the todo cause sweeper mentioned it and I was 1 short!! Points for honesty??!

    Greyhound?

Oh, I'm wrong. But I thought greyhounds had to wear muzzles anyway right?

Oh, I'm wrong. But I thought greyhounds had to wear muzzles anyway right?

Eh, no, racing greyhounds generally wear muzzles because the person walking them usually has too many dogs with them to be able to do anything about it if one them picks up and tries to eat something it shouldn't. Coursing greyhounds have to wear muzzles in competitions so I guess they put them on to get them used to wearing them.

I think they do have to be muzzled when there are 4 or more being walked by one person

    Japanese Akita
    Japanese Tosa
    Bullmastiff
    English Bull Terrier
    Staffordshire Bull Terrier
    American Pitbull Terrier
    Rottweiler
    German Shepherd
    Dobermann
    Rhodesian Ridgeback.

Any strain/cross of these and any dog under the classification of Bandog.

Used to have this printed up in the practice when I was doing veterinay nursing.:D

Here's my question for the pop quiz. Without googling; on average, which is the heaviest breed of dog?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 294 ✭✭cjf

I'd reckon one of the mastiffs maybe the wrinkly face one ( can't spell the n word!) or the English mastiff saw a couple at pet expo last year they are monsters!! All muscle and bone!

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 919 ✭✭✭Shanao

English Mastiff is on average the heaviest with the St Bernard a close second. Males can weigh between 160-250 pounds, though some have been known to weigh over 300 pounds. The biggest mastiff weighed 343pounds, over 154kgs/24 stone!!:p

Am I allowed to use google translator? Or would it even do me any good? :o

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 919 ✭✭✭Shanao

Google translate would give it away alright. How about a guess at classification then- as in terrier, hound, molosser, retriever etc?

On a side note, its pronounced Heart Polski

Here's one that quite a few people I've met dont actually know, despite having the breed in question. Where did the golden retriever originate from?

Not many people would. Almost everyone I've said it to thinks they're from Newfoundland as well.

So, anyone else got a question?
