Hi,I want to swap a 105 10 speed cassette from a mavic aksium wheel to a ksyrium wheel. There are two spacers on the inboard side of the aksium hub,so do I now need two spacers, one spacer or no spacers on the ksyrium.

    Thanks in advance

Is this the spacer behind the cassette?
I usually do trial and error on this one , although I've never heard of using two.

However many it takes to get a snug fit. I think that I may be using two at the moment. Recon cassette on a shimano hub.

Went with one spacer and it seems to work fine.
    Thanks for your help.

Ok Now- Here is the definative answer you are looking for.

On all mavic wheels both Ksyrium and Aksium, If you intend to run a shimano 10speed cassette, you need to install the thick mavic spacer and the thin shimano spacer....together:) On the freehub body--before installing the cassette
Otherwise the cassette can work loose, and the spacing will be wrong...

If you intend to run a 9 speed shimano cassette on a mavic wheel, you just use the one thick mavic spacer....

If you intend running a shimano 10speed cassete on a shimano wheel, You just use the skinny shimano supplied spacer.

And finally- if you intend to run an 8 or 9 speed shimano cassette- on a shimano wheel---No spacers are required....

I am a former bike shop mechanic, and have read mavic and shimano technical service instructions very carefully:)

And one final piece of advice, the lockring needs to be tightened to 40 newton metres of torque...Otherwise if insufficiently tightened, the cassette will chew into the splines on the aluminium freehub body....

    Happy Cycling:)

Damn, just swapped from 9spd Tiagra to 10spd Ultegra and I only have the Mavic spacer.

Anyone in Cork have a spare Shimano 10spd spacer?

Btw, thanks for the info Surferdude!

Yeah, lurking on here a while now, thought I mentioned it to you over the phone.

I didn't even think about spacers until I started swapping things over, I thought the 10spd cassette would have been wider and thought I would be removing spacers if anything.

I wasn't until I had trial fitted it and torqued it up that I noticed a slight bit of play, I came on here after that and found this thread.

You learn something new every day:)

Plenty of bike shops around locally so hopefully I'll pick one up handy enough, if not I'll give you a bell, cheers!
