So its more or less done now according to sky sports news, villa have paid 2m compensation to Birmingham

Really is a mad appointment, majoirty of the fans dont want him and he relegated Birmingham twice. I still think he's an okay manager but they are way better managers out there

I give the manager, Lerner and his board about a year tops. With a bit of luck they'll all be hounded out.

I'd say so yeah. The local support who experience the rivalry and hatred with Birmingham weekly will not let this die like the foreign fan.

Villa have made an absolute show of themselves sniffing around other clubs for prospective managers and being linked with almost every manager bar Mike Bassett.
Farcical appointment ,Mc Leish is a championship manager at best.

This appointment can not go well. how is McCleish supposed to do his job when majority of the fans wont back him. The players confidence will be low with the lack of support they will be getting to play well so McCleish gets the sack.

Watching McClaren's Nottingham Forest press conference, I hadn't heard that Villa pulled out of interviewing him. It makes this all the more bizarre; he would have been a far better candidate. Considering the scatter-gun approach to finding a manager that Villa seem to have adopted, I find it a bit crazy that they didn't even speak to him.

Though reading an article on the story, this passage caught my eye:

According to some outlets, the negative reaction of Villa supporters to the possibility of McClaren taking over led Lerner and his advisors withdrawing from talks.

If there's any shred of truth to that there might be hope for the Villa faithful yet.
