Does this have any impact for BBC??

Couldn't imagine BBC not having a major championships. It just doesnt seem right.

If I had to guess I'd say the BBC won't be showing it. I can't imagine two free to air channels in the UK showing the same sporting event. I could be wrong though.

Pity RTE are not covering the World's. We'll have to depend on the BEEP for coverage of Irish athletes.

No BBC has lost the coverage rights to channel 4 as well as the 2013 champs in Moscow. It will be interesting to see how channel 4 covers the event. The BBC however have the rights to broadcast the olympics.

That's sad. While it won't impact on me this year as I'll be at the championships, it is really sad to see BBC lose the rights. I think they do a great job with covering athletics and love listening to Michael Johnson and co.

Plus ITV and C4's sports coverage is usually sh1te!

I assume Eurosport will have Daegu 2011? Prob be a better viewing option if so.

How can you say that? Alan Parry is the bestest commentator evar.

    1. The main thing is that they've probably paid for them.
    2. We have to rely on other networks for coverage of any athletes.

This is the thing that really annoys me. With the time difference meaning that morning sessions start at midnight. Surely showing few hours of athletics then would boost their ratings? What ever about the evening sessions (again 11am not exactly prime time tv unless your a Dr Phil or Maury fan:D)

I think I might be taking a week off work to watch these seeing getting tickets to the Olympics next year isn't very likely.

Ahem, I think you'll find I'm indeed correct...that is a link to the euro team champs. We are talking about the world champs and the BBC has lost out on coverage rights.

Hopefully Eurosport will also be showing the championships as usual. Give me their coverage over the BBC anyday, although I would miss Michael Johnson in the pundit's chair.
As for Channel 4, hopefully they will bring a fresh approach to the coverage. I wonder who they will be lining up as presenters and pundits.

I will be watching on Eurosport, i will miss Johnson and cram but the rest of the BBC pundits are useless, especially Jackson

I'm not sure why I do, but I can imagine Roger Black and Sally Gunnell forming part of the C4 line-up.

Michael Johnson has joined the Channel 4 team for coverage of Daegu World Champs. Dean Macey has also switched allegiance from BBC and will be joined by Katherine Merry and Iwan Thomas.
