I just got it 2 days ago, im gonna bring it back today and see what the story is with it, Im wondering did I get a lemon?

I had one 5 min conversation
    sent 2 texts
checked my mail a few times

Restart the phone. You might have an app that's running in the background. Or if you just set up your mail account, it could be downloading email. That would waste a lot of battery as well.

Just press the middle button twice quickly, this brings up a tray on the bottom with a list of all the apps you've got running on standby in the background. Once you've got this up, just hold one of the icons for a few seconds, then once they start shaking you can close them all down fully! Same thing happened to me at first, battery was flying down, but once I started closing everything I still have 80%+ left most nights!

close all apps running in backround if you want more then disable notifications and disable 3G.
This way i get about 2 days with modest usage (phone/web/apps)

So a normal functioning battery will definitely get through the day if fully charged first thing in the morning?

    Even with heavy usage?

yes, but i dont know what is your definition of heavy usage. Put it this way, you will not get 6 hours of non-stop video ...

Just having Bluetooth on can use up to 5% of your battery throughout the day.
