Now see if he can find a way of getting around Dublin without being harassed by beggers and Roma gypsies.

The best way to cross Dublin without passing a pub is to go into them all.

not all that convoluted in the end, although skirting the guinness brewery is a bit cheeky

The guy who did it is actually a boardsie, though is fairly inactive at this point.

As the Journal commented, the route don't take into account hotels and restaurants that contain bars within their property.
Just a slight flaw in the puzzle.

Glad to see the journalistic standards of the Indo are improving by bringing us hard hitting new research like this.

what is the point of this exactly? Who cares if you pass a pub when you're crossing the city? Just don't go in!

While not exactly earth shattering news, its still an interesting article.
I never thought (why would I?) of this puzzle but it was an interesting read anyway.
Glad to see that newspapers are not just about bashing people just to sell ink and paper.
If only it was that way a bit more.

Interesting that it passes a part of the largest brewery on the island!

If the map starts in Dublin and ends in Dublin how did he cross it?

Up until recently it wasn't possible to cross the road in this country without passing a pub. :)

It would be weird walking through any Irish town and not seeing any pub.

I propose a game. Start off on one side of the city, choosing your route to the other side with a view to never passing a bar. If you accidently happen upon a bar, you must go in and take a drink, then continue.

Down Camden street and through Temple Bar then. :pac:
