SAS airlines flight questions

1.I have seen a flight from Dublin to bangkok with SAS airlines for a very reasonable price, the flight goes from dublin to copenhagen and theres a changeover and then its non stop from copenhagen to bangkok, however theres very little time from between when the plane from dublin lands in copenhagen and the plane from copenhagen takes off for bangkok, 50 minutes is all. If the plane from dublin to copenhagen is late, will the plane going to bangkok from copenhagen wait?

    2. what are SAS airlines like to fly with?

I fly with them every second week as I work between Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo.

I find them a great airline. Expensive flights and oldish aircrafts sometimes but no complaints from me

It's unlikely they'll wait more than a few minutes. Ring them to see what the story would be or let the staff on the flight know before you touch down in Cph.

Either way, it's unlikely any checked in baggage would make it to Bangkok until their next flight.

They're pretty decent to fly with though I've never flown long haul with them.

Have a look at Airline Equality for some reviews. The long-haul reviews seem less than favourable.

WRT your connecting flights, if the flights are all on a single booking, the onus is on the airline to ensure you are accommodated on the next flight if you fail to make the one you're supposed to connect with. CPH's website indicates that you should be fine: http://www.cph.dk/CPH/UK/MAIN/Before+Departure/Transfer+passengers/Connection+Times.htm

I've done the one hour dash in CPH before when transiting. It's a large airport and a huge gamble. What I would say is as soon as you board the plane in Dublin, let them know that you only have an hour in CPH before your next SAS flight departs and they may be able to speed things up for you. Certainly worked for my old man once, they escorted him through the airport and skipped the queues.

The alternative is Norwegien.no who also fly Dub-CPH. May give you more time and would probably be cheaper.

I was in the same situation
We decided not to chance it and we took the evening flight to Bangkok.
Was nice as we had LOADS of time to go into copenhagen and check out the city..

Sorry for digging up an old thread..me and a friend have already booked this trough skyscanner.com it's Dublin to Copenhagen with a 50 minute stopover then onto Bangkok (all flying with SAS) from reading down through the replies I think we have made a big mistake anyone got any advice for us??

50 mins will be fine at Copenhagen. I've done it in 20 connecting to Tokyo when the Dublin flight was late.

Good to know. I personally picked a longer connection for the just incase. You never know how long your flight will be delayed.

Once you are booked on the same ticket from Dublin then even if the plane departs without you then they will put you up in a hotel and fly you the following day so its no biggie! What is the cost of flying SAS? I will never fly Emirates from Dublin again due to the absolute nightmare of a hassle Dubai airport was last week when flying back from Bangkok.

I did this flight 3.5 weeks ago and no problem with the 50 minute stopover

The dublin flight arrived into gate 20 and the Bkk flight departed from gate 21

No need for any additional Security or passport checks... Just enough time for a toilet break and to pickup a bottle of water in the 7-11 before boarding commenced on teh Bkk flight...

Only issue for me is that they have not really imporved their aircraft... the same planes - which had top of the range in-flight entertainment when i first flew on them 11 years ago, are still being used... but the planes have never been upgraded so in-flight is quite dated now...

Emirates are actually very good to fly with however if you are on their Boeing 777 it is like a tin of sardines which is a stark contrast to their A380 which is so roomy with great leg room and seat pitch. Dubai airport is chaotic and the long queues for security was a total joke having to spend 45mins to clear security whilst transiting!! No order and it was a totally dysfunctional and stressful setup, their A380 service is great but the 777 which is what they use on the Dublin service is just to claustrophic and they cram too many passengers into too small an aircraft.

Glad I booked SAS so it was €200 cheaper!

Yeah, plus you have one really short flight and then one direct long haul flight, splitting the journey mid-way in the Middle East adds to the whole tiredness factor also.

I will consider SAS next time I fly to Asia, so update the thread when you return as they are getting more and more traffic from Ireland so it seems.

Hi lads just thought id update ye in regards to SAS, I thought they were brilliant one of the best airlines that I have flown with, the staff were dead nice and very helpful ( an old guy got a clot in his leg on the way from dublin to copenhagen and they helped him out as best they could even called for a doctor over the intercom and regularly made sure he was comfortable). They checked in my bag in dublin for the bangkok flight aswell so when I arrived in copenhagen I just got on the next plane, I only had 50 minutes but even though the arrival from dublin and the departure to bangkok were in different terminals the gates are right beside each other? so I had time to spare, not a lot but still. Flight to bangkok was great pilot again was excellent and the food was lovely (with a free alco beverage and soft drink with dinner) except for the breakfast that was horrible! flights back were pretty much the same, except the SAS website went down the day and morning before the flight so we had bother checking in on line but it eventually got up and running and we could reserve preffered seats (not much choice left really)

    Good points were
    • Cheap flights
    • good staff
    • excellent pilots, best ive ever been flown by to be honest
    • comfortable planes
    • some of the cabin crew are the most beautiful women ive ever seen haha
    • dinner was gorgeous too!!
    Bad points
    • website crashing
    • bad breakfast
as you can see the bad points arent major just thought id mention them, anyway class airline and id definately fly with them again!!
