You'll get a dell charger in one of the Indian tech shops on Moore St for about €50. A good bit less than you'd pay on the dell website.

I got one in Argos when my charger broke it's pricey at 59.99 but it does more than charge the laptop.

I was advised in Peat's that universal chargers aren't compatible with dell computers. If people have had contrary experiences, I suppose I've been wrongly advised, but I wouldn't be rushing out to buy a universal charger for my dell.

Yeah I've heard that universal chargers don't work in Dell notebooks. They work, but they don't charge the battery, they just keep powering it from the wall.

    Heya Deuce.

    Was it a 65 or 90w one?
    Think 65 is a PA-12 and the 90 is a PA-10 ?

It is indeed true. It doesn't affect all Dell laptops but it is something that's happening more and more.

I'm also looking for a charger for a dell studio laptop if anyone had one lying around the place. The older one seem to keep my laptop running but won't actually charge it so any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Are you sure that the laptop isn't set to disable charging while plugged in? You can access it under Power Options >> Battery Health

Thats the most retarded option i've ever heard of.

Thanks for the info. Just checked it there though and it's not set to disable while charging. I think there's just not enough power in the older dell chargers to charge my laptop.

Yeah, I know it sounds crazy but apparently it increases the overall lifecycle of the battery.

What version of the Studio you have? I have the XPS Studio 17 and it comes with a 130w charger. Apparently the 90w chargers that originally shipped with the laptop weren't powerful enough and people complained to Dell who replaced it with the 130 version.
