    Are straight through exhausts legal??
Lad I know is getting one on his Golf, but I always thought that without a cat converter that it wouldn't meet emmisions standards etc??

An exhaust with no cat will fail the emissions test and en exhaust with no silencers will fail the noise test.

It will also give no improvement in power on a modern standard car and would likely have the oposite effect.

If it is a diesel then it doesn't need a cat to pass the NCT as it is not a requirement.

If it is a petrol then it will Fail the NCT without the Cat

If there's no CAT attached to the exhaust it's a visual fail even on a diesel. Or at least it used to be.

Can anyone explain to me why there would be a power loss when you remove the cat on a daysul? I would have thought with the higher flowing exhaust gases the turbine would spin up easier?

True, like ones from a em...mmm oh yeah the SDI and some other century old things:p
Seriously though how does that thing with a de-cat not increase/reduce power?

It does increase power the slightest wee bit on some cars...hardly work talking about though.

    An example..
    A phase 1 306 with 1.9dt xud engine has 92bhp standard.
A phase 2 306 same engine etc only it had a Cat lost 2bhp making it 90bhp due to this.

    Why would you bother ?

Diesels with straight through pipes sound fúcking retarded. I can't stand this wave of felt spec shítters around.

If people want a fast car then stop pricking around with golfs and that kind of stuff and buy proper cars.

Took mine ouv my audi s4(biturbo), made no difference to performance but a huge difference on fuel economy... It was twice as thirsty

A Golf TDI drove by me the other day with an R32 style straight through exhaust on it, twas the first time I've heard it. Holy jaysus, why anyone would would do that to their car is beyond me.

I'd rather have a Buddyclub Spec 2 on my car than have that poxy noise
