bit of a strange one ive started to notice with my pc,

if i leave the pc for a while, it goes into power save mode, (monitor turns off etc) and the user account gets locked until either the mouse or keyboard are moved, and then i enter my password..

    usual win 7 standard setup..

however, once the power save mode activates, my hdd's go nuts!
its like constant writing/reading to the disks and its bugging me.

    any ideas why?

ok, went through all my system processes, and it turns out this is the windows indexing feature.

i went to services.msc, stopped the "windows search" service,
    and disabled it from starting..

the problem has since stopped, as windows 7 no longer indexes my files for quick searching.
