I am unemployed for over 7 months now and I cant take it anymore. Its so disheartening all the jobs I've applied for and nothing back. I only got 1 interview in the past couple of months but unfortunitely didnt get it. Its begining to really get me down. I applied for for a canadian visa but didn't get it. Now im thinking of heading to oz on my own but the thoughts of it scares me. I could do another course but its so difficult to know what course to do. I have a degree already. I preferably dont want to go back to college I just want start earning money. Any advice appreciated. I feel like Im slowly going insane by the day.

Hi OP. I'm right there with you (10 months in my case)

I can't offer you any advice that won't make you want to hit me, to be honest. That's how I feel when people say to me "keep plugging away", "Something will show up" or "it'll be ok". Just want to scream "NO IT ISN'T OK. IT IS NOT OK" as loudly as possible.

I suppose the only thing I can say to you is that you're not alone. I did do a short part time course a couple of months ago, it did feel great to get out and be doing something. I do try and go for a walk every day, get out of the house. But realistically, I feel like I'm slowly becoming invisible here, it's killing me too. It's just the worst feeling in the world.

Don't be scared of leaving if you have to. The hardest part will be making the decision - once that's done, you'll feel better. But accept that it's going to be a scarey move no matter what.

I'm sorry I can't be of more practical help, but I wholeheartedly understand where you're coming from. And you're right...it does make you feel like you're going slowly mad. It's horrible.

Been there and worn the t-shirt too.
Best advice I can give you is try and do some voluntary work or approach a business that you are interested in and offer to work for nothing for a few days to gain experience.
I know, maybe you think that this is ridiculous but it will get you out of the rut and back into the right circle.
Staying at home feeling sorry for yourself is not the way to go.
Get out, meet people and make them aware that you are available for work.
Be open minded and willing to adapt, the more flexible you are the more employable you are.Give it a go you might like it attitude!

    Good luck...hope this helps!

I would say if you have the chance to go to Oz, dont for a second second think it. You will regret it if you don't.

Now is the perfect time for change so my advice would be take it and dont look back

Thanks to everyone for your replies. RE Oz I am definitely considering it at this stage but I would only be able to apply for a Working Holiday Visa and not a skilled worker Visa. Although I have a degree I am not qualified as anything. With the whv you have to work 6months in one job and 6months in another and hope that a company sponsors me. There's no guarantee that I would be able to stay longer than the year.
