I was means tested 10 weeks ago for the JSA and the inspector called to my house last week to make sure I was living there.
I called in the the social welfare office yesterday and they said it could be up to 3 more months before I get anything.

Does it normally take this long?
Will I get backpay for the the 10 weeks I am waiting and if it comes to it, 20 weeks?
I know I can go to the health board for assistance, but I really dont want to be doing that and If I know I will get all my backpay I can live of my savings for a few more weeks.

    Thanks,

    Mark

As long as you pass all the criteria it will be all backdated from the first day you applied.

Are you sure about this? I've heard about people only getting backpay of 8 weeks

I believe they don't include the first week after you signed on, after that you should get backpayments for every week until your application was approved. Not 100% sure on that but I think that's how it is.

The first 3 days of a claim are not payable, these are called waiting days.
