I cancelled my order with The Hut for Uncharted 2 and was walking back from Argos when I got an email saying cancellation failed because it is being "prepared for dispatch". My order status page was saying "on order" and now it's saying it will be dispatched on the 18th of July. Are they taking the piss?

Any idea how much I might get for this on trade-in when my second copy does eventually arrive?

18th JULY??!! Write back and say you wanted that game now and are not waiting till July to get it, so you're cancelling. I reckon you're well within your rights to cancel if they can't supply it in a reasonable timeframe.

Ditto. Didn't think it was legal to charge you before dispatch but open to correction.

7 day cooling off period applied for goods purchased online you should be able to cancel that order I reckon.

There shouldn't be a need for me to elaborate. Everyone who tries to snag an offer from Argos should already know that after a day the product is published either on bargain alerts or in general advertising the item will be out of stock in a matter of days or even hours.

Your case with them might be different because you live in Sligo with small population densities. But whenever I try to get something from the Ilac, Jervis or Stephens Green Argos in Dublin they are all gone 90 % of the time I try to get them.

They are on offer because they want rid of them. Reduced to clear etc..

They are only looking to offload what they have - not bring in more.

    Well sorry.. jesus!

I thought you meant you reserved something and they didn't have it in store.

Yes.. but then how would you know about it?

In future, I'll keep it to myself.. shall I? :D

To be honest Maverick.. the Sligo store wouldn't get the same degree of stock as the Dublin ones. I know a couple of people who work there.. that's a fact.

To put it frankly.. them's the breaks!

Do you not thing I know that???

Their clearance stock levels are still poor anyway.

They are almost as bad as Aldi's absurd policy of only stocking 3 Medion PCs per store when they are released.

These stores dont realise that there is a higher demand for them than they anticipate. Thats the point im trying to get accross.

If they were to stock more... It would would mean higher revenue for them, happier customers, less complaints and an increase in customer loyalty.

Its a win-win situation for both the consumer and the retailer.

You say you know in the first line but then you continue the rest of your post as if you don't really underdstand.

When they have some products they want rid of then they go on special offer like now. The levels are pre-determined - they are hardly going to get more stock back in for a product they wanted to shift in the first place.

If you are making a general point about Argos stock levels in a non-special offer sense then what on earth does it have to do with this BA?

Its fully relevant, The BA is originating from Argos and im complaining about their stock levels! They are ****!

HMV are selling off all of their Mirrors Edge's on both PS3 and Xbox 360 for 3 euro at the moment ( nearly 4 times less than Argos were selling the uncharteds off for) and there is hundreds of them still on the shelves after two weeks already contrasting to Argos' inadequate stock levels.!

Stupid Argos, reducing the price of the games so they sell out and there is no more stock available.
I wish they had put the price up to €90 each, then I'd have no problem strolling into any branch and picking them up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,681 ✭✭✭Wolverine359

@!MAVERICK! I understand your frustration, I'm right there with you disappointment-wise since they ran out in Galway in no time too. But each store has a certain amount in stock, and when they want to get rid of them (along with a whole load of other items, with the new catalogue out late next month), the price is slashed and that's that, you can't blame the shop for running out quickly because there's big demand, especially in the bigger towns/cities.

Waterford ran out too but Kilkenny had 2 left when I checked will nip and get one, might still be possible to get the other 1.

Your not funny, just because you picked up a copy within the first hour or so it was released it doesnt give you the right to be going around acting like an immature little 5 year old nagging people off who didnt get any.

Get a grip and shoot yourself.
