Would i be right in thinking that 30g of cereal is about a cupful?and if so, do you think it would be easier to add milk to the cup and sort of trick your brain into thinking you are eating a full cup rather than half a bowl?

Lol this made me laugh but im not really sure why :P

You are saying basically that you drink cereal from a cup, trying to trick your brain into thinking your eating more and from a bowl?

oh no, its much smaller than a cup. Weigh it out you will be quite suprised, eating from a cup is not the best idea. Maybe eat a better cereal or find something else to eat

If you are conscious of your calories, then cereal is not a good idea. The recommended portion size is depressingly small, and does not make a good start to the day.

A small portion of porridge I find is quite filling. If I was eating rice crispies though I would need 2 bowls. It all depends on the cereal. Basically there are only 2 cereals worth eating - porridge and shredded wheat. Even wheatabix and bran is full of salt!

it depends on the cereal tbh.. all bran is very low on calories and 100g WILL fill you up, if you can stomach it:D same with porridge.. corn flakes are also pretty low in calories. if you look at coca pops and other crappy cereals they wont really fill you up no matter how much you have in my experience.

I have about 90g of Flahavans basic porridge every morning for breakfast. I got a 30g level scoop thing with the quick oats pack and just use it now to measure my normal porridge. Is 90g possibly too much? This is before adding water, fruit and milk!

I usually use the big 1.5kg bag of Oats from Sainsburys and pour a good size serving. I've recently tried the single serving packs of 30g and it's TINY servings.

Good thing I'm on a bulk - today I had 2 eggs, a protein shake and about 70g of Oats at 6.30a.m., a post-workout 350 calorie shake at 8.00a.m. and another 70g of Oats at 8.30a.m.

Since then, I've had a few sausage rolls, a few cocktail sausages, a scone, a handful of nuts and am about to go for lunch :D
