    Any feedback greatly appreciated folks.

I know similiar title threads are posted here on a regular basis. I have done some background research and have picked up some good advice along the way but would appreciate any feedback relevant to this post?

Looking to get into cycling as a form of exercise. Don't qualify for back to work scheme. Budget of 400 - 500 euro max. I'm 6ft so all info is pointing me towards a 58cm frame.

Have come up with list of the following bikes.....

Merida Road Race 750 490 euro new
Giant Defy 3.5 575 euro new
Carrera Virtuoso in halfords 400 euro new

    Second hand bikes include......
    Claub Butler 2011 450 euro
    Giant Defy 480 euro
    Dawes Giro 300 300 euro
    Specialized Allez Racer 500 euro
    Felt 475 euro
    La Pierre R lite 200 500 euro

My question to you guys please?
Which makes and models would you recommend?
Better quality second hand bike vs new bike?
What should I be looking out for?
How much extra $$$$ in terms of accessories will i have to spend in order to get out on the road?

Would like to get started asap?

Cheers for any help. Hope I didn't break any rules.

Do you have any link for any of those bikes? I can't say with I'm familiar with the specs of all those bikes off hand and I don't fancy trawling through google.

As regards the second hand options, stay well away from the dawes giro 300, my housemate has that bike and it's a piece of ****e, very uncomfortable, terrible handling, god-awful quando wheels and generally basic components.

I'd be tempted by the giant defy 3.5 or the specialised allez but I'm not sure what the spec is on either of them, they're respected brands though so the frames should be decent.

Thanks for that...thats at least one ruled out!

This is the link for the Specialized Allez racer....

Ad for the giant defy doesn't go into too much detail.

I really am in the dark with regards to bike specs, have been merely looking at recognised brand names posted here previously?????gh

Gears, brakes, tyres, weight etc....all things im looking into....

    thanks for the heads up.....
