Boards is beginning a series of interviews through video and Boards threads with the various candidates. The format will be the same for each as best we can, that is to say:

    1. Collect questions from the community here.
    2. Video an interview with the candidate using those questions.
    3. Post the interview here and kick start a dialogue with the candidate on threads on the forum here.

So far we have approached Mary Davis and David Norris , both of whom have agreed to do it. We want to be fair and be clear that we are offering this platform to all candidates.

So, this thread is NOT for the questions, it's just to let you all know what's happening and to make the offer public.

Who do you define as a candidate? As far as I know the two names mentioned have not secured the necessary support to run for the Aras as yet? So would you not be better off waiting until they secure that support and the large parties select their candidates otherwise every Tom, Dick and Harriet could be interviewed on here but boardies only have a chance to vote for 3-4 of them at the actually presidential vote.

Good and fair question which deserves a clear answer: firstly anyone who has secured the necessary support is obviously considered a candidate, additionally prospective candidates who have, in our opinion (and yes, that's subjective), garnered sufficient interest for this community to benefit from a Q&A with them.

I believe Norris and Davis fall into the later category.

The reason we don't want to wait is that it will be a big rush coming up to the election and we want to take two weeks between candidates (probably).

Have you approached messrs Mc Guinness and Higgins?

McGuinness no, he's only just thrown his hat in the ring but we hope to have an interview with Higgins in time. Just to be clear, we'll approach McGuinness too.
(though to be fair, its not the easiest thing to do... getting in touch with candidates! :) )

In view of Mr Norris's re-emergence as an intended candidate, will further questions be entertained for him ?
